Edwin Veth

I am an illustrator and ARB registered Architect, having worked at several architectural practices in Rotterdam and London. Before studying architecture at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design, I qualified as a graphic designer and interior architect.

My current exploration revolves around sustainable practices, with a focus on developing the craft of design and making. As part of this ethos, I rediscovered my passion for illustration.

Through my art, I offer an escape from the daily grind, rewilding through imaginative scenic environments. My dynamic and expressive comic style creates a playful fresh look at the world around us, offering a break from static compositions commonly found in architectural visualisations.

During lockdown, I took inspiration from places we could no longer visit and the empty streets it created. I was captivated by the idea that nature would take its rightful place again and run wild in the cities. This led me to animate a series of iconic empty streetscapes with larger-than-life local city animals. I also illustrated ordinary things made extraordinary, perspective views, and a collection of retreats that provide refuge from all restrictions by seclusion.
